so no writing today. i have had a fulfilling weekend with writing my short story for the ny midnight short story competition, going thru the edits from my editor friend of chapter 2 (of 14) and finishing editing my friends manuscript. so today, my writing brain gets a break before i begin to delve into my second draft of my third novel.

today i am going my adventure in japanese cooking. i found a youtube video that is amazing. its giving me a much better insight on how to cook some dishes. i'm super excited to try the bento box she made for lunch on wednesday.

but i have just made tamagoyaki for the 3rd time and today it was a charm! my biggest mistake was not cooking on a low enough heat. plus i tried a different recipie. instead of soy and sugar, it was mirin and salt. plus i layered in nori and cheese. it looks so good i'm sad i have to wait until tomorrow to eat it! (i tend to make dishes in advance for the next couple of days)

right now i have salmon cooking, on parchment paper in a frying pan. thats new for me. interesting to see how it goes. while it is slowly cooking i am going to make my dinner: soba noodles, ground beef with burdock root and japanese coleslaw. i am loving this plethora of small dishes. its sooo good
